ONLINE LEARNING: A NEW VENTURE IN
ADULT FAITH FORMATION FOR THE DIOCESE OF HAMILTON

It is with great pleasure that we announce an exciting new partnership with The University of Dayton: Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF). The VLCFF is not simply a program, it is a living adult faith community. It is not a correspondence course, but an interactive e-learning faith community. They are always refreshing their e-courses with new information that addresses the needs of the Church. They are designing new e-courses, e-certificate programs and e-seminars as the needs arise. Their e-courses are designed by knowledgeable catechetical and ministry leaders in the field bringing both expert theory and praxis into a rich blend of online learning.

This partnership, which involves a relatively small investment on the part of the Diocese ($3,000.00) allows anyone, anywhere in the Diocese of Hamilton access to these courses for a cost of $50 per course, which is half the cost to non-partnership groups. After much research into online learning opportunities both here and in the U.S it was determined that, for the investment, Dayton offered us the best platform and structure for e-learning in our Diocese.

We encourage you to visit the Dayton site to explore what they have to offer you and your parish. These courses would be extremely useful for catechists, ministry leaders, formation study groups and those simply looking to deepen their faith.

Further information about any of these programs can be obtained by contacting David Dayler in the Discipleship & Parish Life Office  via e-mail at ddayler@hamiltondiocese.com or 905-528-7988 ext 2226.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING THIS
DIOCESAN PARTNERSHIP FOR ADULT FAITH FORMATION?

It allows us to expand our reach in Adult Faith Formation programs throughout the Diocese.

1.

The diversity in on-line cohorts offers a broader range of knowledge and experience to be shared.

3.

Those who wish to participate in formation programs but find it difficult because of timing of the course offered or work schedules will find the on-line courses far more convenient.

2.

Because of the partnership the cost per course is half of what the regular fee would be.

4.
